The Barton Grange Group
The Barton Grange Group of companies dates back to 1945 when Mr & Mrs Edward and Ada Topping purchased a small manor house in Barton with plans to turn it into a hotel.
Now, over 70 years later, the Group comprises a national award-winning garden centre at Brock, a hugely successful Landscaping business and two large plant nurseries selling plants throughout the UK.
Barton Grange Landscapes was established in 1957 by Eddie Topping, Edward and Ada’s son, and is now run by Eddie’s son, Peter Topping. Covering the north west of England, Barton Grange Landscapes remain one of the most respected and professional landscaping contractors in the north west of England carrying out all elements of hard and soft landscaping.
The new Barton Grange Garden Centre at Brock was officially opened in March 2008 by HRH Princess Anne, and is run by another of Eddie’s sons, Guy Topping. The stunning establishment sits alongside a marina and has many special features and attractions that make it a must-see visitor attraction! It has won major awards, such as Garden Centre of the Year, and regularly wins awards for the stunning Christmas displays created year after year. As well as the traditional garden centre departments such as House Plants, Garden Furniture, Home Decor, Pets etc. you can also visit:
- Honeywells Farm Shop
- The Cook Shop
- Willows Restaurant
- Riverside Cafe
The latest addition to the Group is the stunning Flower Bowl Entertainment Centre on the same site at Brock, Preston. This amazing construction was completed in 2016 and includes:
- Olympic-sized Curling Rink
- Ten-Pin Bowling
- Luxury 3-screen Cinema
- 18-hole Crazy Golf

The Flower Bowl was created as one single-storey building, complete with a grass roof, enabling sheep to frequent the roof-top space!
